The importance of protein intake to avoid a stroke

When diet and unhealthy lifestyle, do not be surprised if there will be an attack sudden health problems, whether it's a heart or stroke. If you do not want this to happen, lifestyle change and multiply the intake of protein.

Why should the protein? Due to a recent study from China found people whose diets are dominated by protein source 20 percent less likely to have a stroke than those who rarely eat protein.

Conclusion was based on the results of a review of seven studies, which on average lasts for 10 years. Total participants reached 255,000 people. Periodically, each participant was asked to fill out questionnaires about diet and given whatever they had eaten in the last 24 hours so that researchers can calculate their protein intake.

From there, researchers can ensure the link between protein consumption with a reduced risk of stroke in participants themselves. Even if every day they consume an additional 20 grams of protein, it can decrease the stroke risk by 26 percent.

Unfortunately, researchers do not claim to know exactly how the mechanism through protein may reduce the risk of stroke. The first alleged, eating protein can lower blood pressure, which in turn also reduces the risk of stroke.

"It could be that this protein tends to be related to the type of other nutrients that can prevent strokes such as potassium, magnesium and fiber," said one researcher Dr. Xinfeng Liu from Nanjing University School of Medicine.

In response to this study, Dr. Arturo Tamayo from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg say diet is not the only risk factor for stroke. Because there are other factors such as genetic susceptibility, age and other medical conditions such as high blood pressure or heart disorders owned.

So which one is better protein, vegetable or animal? The problem is, most of the participants eat more animal protein than plant-based, so researchers are relatively difficult to determine which one is more useful.

"It's just among the many sources of protein, it seems that the most beneficial fish lowers the risk of stroke because the content of omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients., But avoid red meat because saturated fat and cholesterol levels would trigger a stroke," advises Liu, as quoted by Reuters on Thursday (12/06/2014).

Including the changing patterns of life, especially for those who are lazy sport, still smoking or drinking alcoholic beverages.
